Building a Positive Future

Working with Women

A 1:1 wrap-around support service is customised for every woman who engages with the project. The project provides a women’s only space within the service designed to meet their needs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with additional outreach support if needed.  This is a personal, social and educational high support programme based on the needs, interests and life experiences of the women.

A series of workshops, therapeutic spaces, and educational opportunities will include: Minding your Mental Health, True Self-Care, exploring Healthy Relationships, Grief, Parenting, Substance Misuse, Critical Thinking and Life-skill development.   This is supplemented by offending related interventions and access to the flexible learning options in Access within the project as required. The women’s project will involve a high level of interagency work with key support partners.

Family Support

The contribution and support of parents and the family is central during the young persons’ engagement with our services. It is our experience that better outcomes are realised when parents and families are involved in their child’s placement.

The purpose of Family Support is to work on the ground, increase parental involvement and help to facilitate a supportive home environment and engagement in The Link programmes.  Working with the family offers the opportunity of supporting the parent, strengthening communication and understanding, developing parenting skills and identifying needs.

Building a positive relationship with the parents from the beginning through family meetings, home visits and phone calls, The Link aims to establish a positive foundation for successful cooperation to support the young person’s development.
